Responsibilities
- Support the end-to-end processing of monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures
- Maintain payroll-related ledgers, journals, and reconciliations
- Assist with statutory reporting and year-end processes in line with regulatory requirements
- Implement approved salary changes and deductions in a timely manner
- Respond to employee payroll queries, escalating complex issues where appropriate
- Liaise with internal teams such as Finance, HR, and IT to ensure smooth payroll operations
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in line with internal standards
- Monitor and apply changes in payroll and taxation legislation as required
- Support audits and compliance activities, ensuring payroll controls are followed
- Provide general administrative support across payroll and wider business functions as needed
- Carry out duties in accordance with company policies, governance standards, and applicable legislation
Experience
- Previous experience in a payroll or payroll-support role
- Good working knowledge of payroll processes and statutory requirements
- Familiarity with payroll or HR systems (experience with large ERP systems is advantageous but not essential)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and payroll reconciliations
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Comfortable handling queries professionally via phone and email
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Eligible to work in the UK
