Catalyst’s client is a leading global energy trading business, seeking a Senior HRBP to join it’s London office. You will act as a strategic adviser to the trading desks and senior leadership team, aligning the people agenda with commercial objectives in a regulated environment. This is a high‑impact role at the heart of the front office, to shape organisational design, develop key talent and support a culture of high performance and responsible risk‑taking.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic business partnering
Act as a trusted adviser to trading leadership, providing insight and challenge on people strategy, workforce planning and organisational design, ensuring HR initiatives are tightly aligned to commercial priorities and trading performance.
Organisational development and change
Lead and support initiatives in organisational design, culture and ways of working across the trading desks, driving efficiency, collaboration and effective governance in a volatile market environment.
Talent, succession and performance
Develop and embed robust talent management and succession planning processes, with a particular focus on identifying and retaining high‑potential front‑office talent and critical risk and control roles.
Risk, conduct and compliance
Partner with Legal, Compliance and Risk to anticipate and mitigate people‑related risks, including conduct, regulatory change, investigations and complex employee relations cases within a highly regulated framework.
Data‑driven HR and workforce analytics
Use HR analytics, workforce metrics and market data to identify trends, inform decision‑making, pre‑empt future challenges and measure the impact of people initiatives across the trading organisation.
Leadership coaching and HR team development
Coach senior leaders to strengthen their people management capability and act as a mentor for more junior HR colleagues, supporting the broader development of the HR function.
HR projects and continuous improvement
Lead and contribute to cross‑functional HR projects (policy, processes, systems and frameworks), ensuring they are pragmatic, commercially focused and aligned with the firm’s strategic goals.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience in a Senior HR Business Partner or equivalent role, ideally gained in a financial markets, investment banking or a similarly fast‑paced, front‑office environment.
- Comfortable operating across both strategic and hands‑on work, from shaping people strategy to managing complex individual cases.
Technical skills
- Proven experience of working with modern HRIS platforms, ideally Workday, and a high level of proficiency with digital HR tools and reporting.
- Solid knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with experience managing sensitive and complex employee relations matters in regulated environments.
